Lots of Rain in 2017

December, January and now February have been very wet. See the data above, measured at Heritage Creek Preserve on campus, to appreciate how different this year is.

We can expect more radical climate patterns in the future.  So the last 5 year's drought - and this year's rain - are becoming the new normal.   Visit Heritage Creek, and the native plant gardens on campus, to see how well the California natives are coping with climate change.

Heritage Creek Preserve (CSU Dominguez Hills) - rare May rainstorm (5/14/15)

Heritage Creek (CSU Dominguez Hills) running in May (5/14/15)

We've had two unusual (for us) May rainstorms this year.  May 2015 rainfall total as of 5:00 p.m. 5/14 was 1.05 inches!  It will be interesting to see how the plants react to this late rainfall.
